About Fragments

21st April 2008

Fragments Theatre was founded in 2008 by Shane Dempsey. Fragments is an International ensemble of actors and practitioners based in Ireland. As well as producing new theatre productions that are vibrant and energetic,we also strive to continue to develop the actors craft through intensive training workshops. Our work is inspired by the European model of a resident ensemble, that creates detailed work over a pro-longed length of time. We place a major emphasis on the unique value of creative collaboration. Hannah Burke who is our writer in residence is responsible for the development of new writing that is inspired by working closely with the actors in the rehearsal room. The company also has a film unit led by Thomas Flannery. We are currently in post production for Mothers of Modern Ireland: A People’s History. This social history will document the changes that have taken place in Ireland since the 1920’s; seen through the eyes of the women that lived through these monumental times. Our first associate artist is International award winning play-write and actor George Seremba. Fragments are currently in production for Hannah Burkes The BAY, which will plays in London in June, THe Big Green Gathering in July and Edinburgh Fringe in August, before touring The European Festival circuit.
